At Hoopstad Health, our team of doctors, nurse, and visiting specialists work together to bring quality healthcare to our agricultural community. Each one brings unique skills and a passion for helping patients feel better and stay well. Not all of our healthcare professionals are at the practice every day, so it’s best to book in advance to make sure you can see the right person when you need to.

Dr. Leané van der Merwe

General Practitioner

Dr. Leané, an MBChB graduate from the University of Pretoria, has a special interest in surgery and advanced training in emergency care and aesthetics. She is known for her compassion and dedication to her patients.

Dr. Nerina Janse van Rensburg

General Practitioner

Dr. Nerina, a University of the Free State graduate, firmly believes that "prevention is better than cure". She especially enjoys working with children and is dedicated to serving the families of the Hoopstad community.

Sr. Rika Helm

Professional Nurse

Sr. Rika is an experienced and caring nurse who studied BSoc.Sc Nursing at the University of the Free State. She loves helping her patients and specialises in advanced wound care, stoma and chronic ulcer care.

Lerato Matsabu

Optometrist

Lerato is a qualified optometrist with her main practice in Welkom. She consults at Hoopstad Health every Thursday, providing eye examinations, prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses, and advice on maintaining healthy vision.

Mariëtte Greeff

Receptionist

Mariëtte is the first friendly face you’ll see when you enter Hoopstad Health. She helps with booking appointments, answers questions about medical aids and payments, and makes sure every patient feels welcome.

Baraedi Molefe

Counsellor and Social Worker

Baraedi is a registered private social worker with qualifications in Healthcare Management, Social Work and HIV care. She supports individuals, families and groups with challenges such as stress, trauma, divorce, mental health concerns and financial strain.

Portia Motlalepule

Housekeeper

Portia takes care of cleaning and hygiene at Hoopstad Health, keeping the practice safe, fresh and welcoming for everyone who walks through the door. She takes great pride in her work and is a kind presence in the practice.
